Restoration work nears completion; voluntary appeal lifted

Thursday, January 18, 2018

Entergy Louisiana expects to restore power today to the remaining customers affected by the arctic front that moved into Louisiana. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible where road conditions allow to restore power to the approximately 750 customers who were without electricity as of 1 p.m. today.

In addition, MISO has lifted the voluntary appeal to reduce electricity usage. We have not had any generation shortfalls today, and based on communications with MISO – there should be enough generation available in the mid-South region to meet the demand for the next several days. At this time, we don’t anticipate having to make another voluntary request for conservation during this winter weather event, and will alert the public as soon as we can should conditions change.

Safety is always our first priority and we want it to be yours too. We urge customers to monitor the weather and implement their own winter storm plans.

Call 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243) to report downed or dangling power lines, poles or other damaged equipment. Review gas safety tips available on our website and have a licensed professional service your heating system if needed. Don’t use candles or other flammable devices to warm your home. Check on seniors, who can be particularly susceptible to extreme temperatures.
