Ready to Respond to Outages that May Occur Due to Extreme Cold and Icy Conditions

Monday, January 15, 2018

Entergy and its operating companies in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi are watching the weather closely and will be ready to respond to outages that may occur due to extreme cold and icy conditions over the next few days.

As a reminder, freezing precipitation can accumulate on power lines, trees and tree branches, causing the vegetation and other materials to sag into power lines and cause outages. In addition, power outages can take longer to restore in cases of extreme cold, as heaters and other electrical appliances can cause overloading of the system, forcing crews to slowly bring the power back online.

Customers are asked to make winter storm preparations. You can keep track of outages by viewing our outage map and get other helpful information on our website at entergy.com.
